A visit to the Benedictine monks in Mission, Canada

Located only an hour away from Vancouver is Westminster Abbey, in Mission BC.

Established in 1939, this wonderful place is home to the seminary of Christ the king and official name is the abbey of Saint Joseph of Westminster.

Benedictine monks live by the motto “pray and work” and true to this, run the entire establishment themselves. This including the kitchen, farming and most other work.

Services are held several times of the day and are mostly public. This including the lauds, midday prayer, vespers and vigils. Those of you familiar with my other blogposts will find that I have a lot of time for visiting Spiritual places such as this and try and visit a holy place on as many of my trips as possible.

Great for a family outing, the lovely service, or simply for the chance to take a time out and contemplate. A visit to the Benedictine monks will be well worth the trip and something you’ll be happy to have experienced.
