Dining in Austria: Triad, Krumbach

When we think about dining in Austria a lot of us will automatically think of things like Wiener Schnitzel, Apfel Strudel and Sacher Torte but there is a lot more to Austrian cuisine than meets the eye, especially when it comes to a modern, creative fine dining experience more and more popular in Austria these days. I took advantage of one of my recent visits to Austria to try out a popular place in Krumbach called Triad.

What I love:

  • The atmosphere of the place. Pictures speak a thousand words and as you can see by the photos Triad really did have a lovely Austrian feel to it, from the landscape outside to the staff wearing traditional “trachten” to complement their Austrian dishes.
  • The surprise menu is a great way to spoil your senses and try something new without having the hassle of trying to pick from all the great options provided.
  • Fresh produce and home grown herbs help make the whole dining experience one of a kind.
  • Triad offers lots of different ways to enjoy your time there, from the surprise menu to overnight stays with the option of a round of golf or even a cooking class, there are plenty of things to do although with such a nice outside area you really don’t need anything to do except sit back, relax and enjoy.

Things that I didn’t like too much:

  • Well, I suppose it is on the pricey side and the dishes more on the unique side of things. They do have a limited selection of a few popular traditional dishes available but I wouldn’t recommend it as a place to go if you’re looking to enjoy a simple, good old fashioned Austrian dish that’s not a Wiener Schnitzel (which they do offer).
  • I’m a big fan of desserts, the more cream the better and here the desserts seem to be on the more simple side because obviously the point of the place is to have a different dining experience so focus is more on the other courses.
  • That’s all, other than that the place was great and definitely worth a visit if you like your food and want to experience something different.
