In this day and age we’ve all been there where we had to pay something in another currency and used our debit or credit card thinking nothing of it only to be surprised a few days later with a hefty fee a few days later.

You can save a lot by being smart about your purchases, where possible opt for a bank transfer instead and use an app called transferwise.

I’m not usually one for suggesting other sites or apps but this is one that I personally actively use to save. Heck, I forgot to use it the other day and lost £60 because of that (long story, I spent a lot of time putting something together and just wanted it done and therefore didn’t think ahead), which is exactly why I am posting this right now: to save you and anyone else the hassle and frustration of completing an online transaction and being hit with the bank fee after.
